Power of Strength

In Chapter 3 of Shaar Hayichud, after acknowledging that the G-dly light that is our source of existence is hidden from us, the Alter Rebbe asks why aren’t the created beings nullified to the light of Hashem that creates them, as the ray of the sun is nullified to the sun when its still in its source. In chapter 4 he answers that we aren’t nullified because Hashem has a “power of strength” that conceals his creative light.

I always wondered how the answer explains anything, after all, even in the question the Alter Rebbe acknowledges that we can’s see the source, and yet he asks why aren’t we nullified. Well the answer is we don’t see the source, don’t we know that already?

Here is what I came up with. The alter Rebbe understood that we can’t see, know or understand our source. His question was, why don’t we fell that we have a source, albeit not knowing exactly what that source is. The answer is that the “power of strength” conceals not only the creator, but the feeling that we are created, thus leaving us to feel as if we exist by default.

This satisfied me some what. The problem is that yesterday I was talking about the “Igeres Hakodesh” number 20 that says that only the essence of Hashem, who himself always existed, can create a creation that feels as if it always exists (independently). According to my theory, that is the function of “the power of strength” not the essence of G-d.

As I write I am thinking about the words of the “Igeres Hakodesh” that the “light” creates with the power of Hashem’s essence. Well, the light can be refereeing to the light of the “power of strength”.

Does any of this make sense?

Perhaps the question is, how can we feel ourselves if we really aren't outside the sun?
To answer because He hides Himself isn't enough because if we're part of Him how can we feel otherwise? Like how can words in your mind feel like they are spoken words? Or how can a Psak Din in your intellect feel like an emotion?
So when in perek 3 the Alter Rebbe says we don't see our Source therefore we're like a ray outside the Sun, doesn't answer anything. Because we're not a ray outside the sun.
And that's the chiddush of perek 4 that even though we are not a ray outside the sun, Yet we still feel like we're a ray outside the sun and a feeling in the heart, and words of speech. And such a thing is impossible! How does it happen? Well we can't understand it just like we can't understand His creative power.

Perhaps a two way mirror is an example we look and just see ourselves while from the other perspective everything is seen.

The glass is coated with (or in some cases encases a layer of) a very thin almost transparent layer of metal (generally aluminium). The result is what appears to be a mirror from one side, and tinted glass from the other. A viewer in the brightly lit area has difficulty seeing into the darkened room, through what appears to be a mirror.

To take full advantage of the partially mirrored surface, the target side should be brightly lit, to obscure any hint of light coming through the glass from the viewer's side. The darkened room is only completely obscured when it is in complete darkness. Sometimes a darkened curtain or a double door type vestibule is used to keep the viewer's side darkened.

A flashlight held against the glass can be used to illuminate the darkened viewer's side, allowing someone on the lit side to see through.

Also perhaps an explanation as to why revelation is a Helim V'Hester to Atzmus.
